“The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do."
-Galileo Galilei
Our vineyard of 30-year-old Pinot noir (Pommard) vines is situated in the Dundee Hills AVA. The vineyard ranges from 410 ft to 490 ft of elevation with a southeast aspect. The Jory clay loam soil is typical for the AVA and what delivers the bright red colors and flavors for which the Dundee Hills are known. Vines are spaced at five feet, separated by extra wide nine-foot-wide middles, providing extra sunlight for extended vine growth and superior fruit ripening during véraison. Our vines are dry farmed, head-trained and bi-lateral cane-pruned; supported by a seven-wire VSP trellising system with six moveable catch wires.
